| The
word Faith is a very interesting word. According to
Webster’s New World Dictionary the word Faith means
unquestioning belief, specific in God, complete trust or
confidence. Trust by definition (from the same source)
means belief in the honesty, reliability, hope and confident
expectations. Faith is not just a word. In the Bible the
Living Word of God Faith is very important because having
the Faith requires to trust and believe in God The Father,
God the Son and God The Holy Spirit whose name is Jesus. I
once heard the phrase Faith (Fantastic Adventure In Trusting
Him) that has stayed with me through out building my Faith,
Relationship, and Foundation as I put my Trust and Faith In
Jesus. |
In John 14:1-4
(NIV) Jesus is comforting his disciples asking them to trust
in him. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God,
trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms, if it
were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare
a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me
that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place
where I am going.” Reading John 14 the whole chapter will
give you more insight to what Jesus is telling his disciples.
This is at a time
when Jesus was getting ready to be crucified and he knew they
were upset that he would no longer be there for them while they
would have the faith and trust to carry on spreading the Gospel
throughout the world. After he went to be with the Father, he
would send the Holy Spirit to lead them in all truths. Even for
today his words are for us in our life to have faith and trust
in him. This wasn’t easy for his disciples when they were used
to him being there to lead them. When we put ourselves in their
places it really makes us ask ourselves what we would do and how
would we feel? Jesus’ Disciples went through to build their
faith, trust and relationship with him and now he was going to
be with the Father! As we continue through the events that took
place we see how they grew and the process in their Faith. After
all they were instrumental in spreading the Good News. We did
not witness these events ourselves so our faith and trust must
be through Jesus in the word of God. When we are reborn in the
Spirit we have The Holy Spirit within us to lead us in all
truths.
This is why Faith
is not just a word. To me it is a Fantastic Adventure In
Trusting Him. It is a journey and many times difficult. I used
to give Him the burdens and then take them back and that means I
am not trusting but worrying. When we take the burdens back
many times he will give them back. Now if I catch myself doing
so I immediately repent and tell him no I am not taking anything
back. He tells us to cast our burdens on him.
There are various
kinds of Faith that Jesus and The Bible talk about. One is
Natural Faith that is inherit within us that is already there.
We have faith without really making a point to think about it.
We know that its natural to breathe, move, eat, sleep, that our
brain thinks, that there are taxes and that one day we will die
in the flesh. Depending on whether we make the choice to accept
him as Lord and Savior we will have eternity with him. When we
have Faith in God there is more that we know that he gives us.
He gives us Mercy and Grace that we do not deserve but gives it
freely from his great love. Although we must always give him the
Praise, the Glory and be Thankful that he created us and how
awesome how everything works. It’s easy to take things for
granted. Yes we need to actually be a doer, not a hearer only
least we deceive ourselves, (Scripture is James 1:22 ) working
and growing in our relationship with him.
There is a
Measure of Faith mentioned in Scriptures Romans 12:3 (NKJV)
Paul says:
” For I say,
through the grace given to me, for everyone who is among you not
to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to
think soberly as God has death to each one a measure of faith.”
Then in Romans
12:6 (NKJV) ” Having then gifts differing according to the grace
that is given to us, let us use them, if prophesy let us
prophesy in proportion to our faith.”
By reading and
mediating Romans Chapter 12 all the way through, you will get a
better sense of being a member in the body of Christ, so as we
being many are one body in Christ, and individual members of one
another. That we are part of the body of Christ but each one
lives out God’s purpose and plans while contributing to the
whole body. Each individual’s walk with the Lord will not be the
same because he knows what each of us needs to grow in our
Faith.
Now we move on to
the the Mustard Seed Faith in Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
Jesus replies:
“Because you have so little Faith, I tell
you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard see, you
can say to this mountain, Move from here, go there and it will
move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Does
this mean with the faith of a Mustard Seed you will be able to
move physical mountains?
No! This is in
reference to the mountains in your life such as finances, being
in debt, losing or having the wrong job, having addictions,
family and or marriage problems or the many mountains that are
in our lives that the Faith even as small as a mustard seed,
trusting in the Lord can remove those mountains in your life.
Sometimes we can be stuck in the valley or even the desert. In
having the faith and trust in Jesus means that he is with us as
we go through everything. Did you know that when you mix a
mustard seed it is so strong that whatever is in the mixture;
the mustard seed completely takes over? It's all about the
purity of a mustard seed.
